Redneck #1 from Image Comics explores the Vampire Genre

Donny Cates may have another big hit with Redneck.

This is one series from Image Comics I’m excited about. If you’ve read God Country recently from the same writer, Donny Cates, you may be in for a nice treat. Image Comics described Redneck as:

The Bowmans are VAMPIRES who have quietly run the local barbecue joint in their small town for years, living off cow’s blood. Their peaceful coexistence ends as generations of hate, fear, and bad blood bubble to the surface–making it impossible to separate man from monster!

Critically acclaimed writer DONNY CATES (GOD COUNTRY) and artist LISANDRO ESTHERREN serve up the tale of a DIFFERENT kind of family just trying to get by, deep in the heart of Texas.

As a fan of vampire stories, I have high hopes for this series. It could be as good as Vertigo’s American Vampires written by Scott Snyder a few years ago. There will be plenty of anxiety, violence, and human/monster interactions, which is a premise that has a strong chance of being optioned for a TV series. Furthermore, with Donny Cates stock rising recently with the fans for his writing on God Country, this series will have some serious considerations from Hollywood.

Don’t miss out on this new series scheduled to hit stores April 19th. It’s a little late to preorder Redneck #1, however, registered users can preorder Redneck #2 this month. Those in Colorado, please visit 5280 Comics to add this exciting series to your account today.
